WHAT DO ROSES SMELL LIKE

Well the phone just don't stop ringin'
Long enough to clear my thoughts
And a choir of suits is singin'
Beat the deadline, cut the cost
And my breakfast looks like blueprints
And my coffee tastes like time
That's been rollin' down some blacktop road
Leavin' me behind

And they tied me to a meeting
Pullin' answers from my head
But my mind drifts off to questions
That I'd rather ask instead, like

CHORUS:
What do roses smell like
What color is the sunrise
And are the fish still bitin'
Way down south on Pontchartrain
And how's my boy been doin'
And how's my girl been bloomin'
And who's that gorgeous woman
Says she loves me just the same

Well five o'clock comes early
And I'm still so far behind
So I shoot an old Wild Turkey
Try not to unwind
Then I call to say I'm workin' late
But there ain't nobody home
Cause they're all out at his ballgame
I guess I should have gone

But the credit cards are hungry
And the banker needs new shoes
And my mind's been throwin' curveballs
And the catcher gets confused, about

REPEAT CHORUS

Well there's a stranger in the mirror
And I guess he'll have to go
Ah but I'll be leaving with him
Cause by God I've got to know

REPEAT CHORUS
