BUBBLEGUM

Walking along on a hot summer day
With the sun pouring down in that July way
The flowers are thirsty and the birds want a bath
The dogs are laying low, asleep in the grass
   Rising ripples of the heat
From the sidewalk and the street
Make my head as hazy as the distant sky
I'm so distracted, you're the reason why
And my next step finds baking in the sun
A soft and gooey wad of gum
And as I stretch that sweetened glue
It dawns on me this is just like you, cause

CHORUS:
You keep sticking to my mind like bubble gum to a shoe.

And it's stubborn stuff if you've ever tried
To remove hot gum from the underside
Of your boot or sneaker, not a cinch to do
And it's not so easy to not think of you
I keep scraping my soul on the ground.
I can't get free of this stuff I found, cause

CHORUS:
You keep sticking to my mind like bubble gum to a shoe.

BRIDGE:
Too much sugar to be Carefree
Well, it must be Bazooka cause it's aimed at me.
Somebody popped you, dropped you on the ground
And you've been doggin' my heels all over this town.

Walking along on a hot summer day
With the sun pouring down in that July way.
My head's as hazy as the distant sky
I'm so distracted, you're the reason why
I keep scraping my soul on the ground
I can't get free of this stuff I found. Oh

CHORUS:
You keep sticking to my mind like bubble gum to a shoe.
You keep sticking, you keep sticking
You keep sticking to my mind like bubble gum to a shoe.
