  1. YOU'VE HAD YOUR CHANCES
©2000 Walter Crockett    ... as sung by Valerie

  2. It always makes you angrier to know that you've done wrong
And you cast around so frantically for one to pin it on
Then you turn in my direction and you lock your eyes on mine
But I will not take this fall for you
There's no more one more time

    CHORUS:
You've had your chances, now quit while you're behind
No easy answers, no way to melt this heart of mine
You took my love and danced upon it
    But you overlooked my pride
    You've had your chances
    Bye bye

I should have seen it coming in the shadow on your smile
I might have read a message in your military style
That someone looking up to you would have to be put down
But then your world was new to me
    Now I've been around

    REPEAT CHORUS

    BRIDGE:
How can I make it plainer than the writing on the wall
The train has left the station and there's no way back at all

    REPEAT CHORUS

  3. EMILY'S ANGEL
    ©2000 Valerie Crockett
  4. The limo comes at 8 o’clock in the drizzly morning rain
And Emily makes it to the car with her wheelchair and her pain
Off to New York City to meet her favorite country star
A child’s wish is granted, but her headaches make it hard
She’ll take on extra pain, so she won’t miss the dance
With her angel in a cowboy hat
And a guitar in his hands

    CHORUS:
    Oh he believes in believing
And she believes in the man
Her mama sees he’s her angel
Emily’s angel in a cowboy hat with a guitar in his hands

His silver buckle flashes first, and then his infinite charms
He gives her lots of time, he gives a kiss on her head,
He gives a bear hug in his arms
His wings of kindness wrap them up, a mama and her little girl
Three days in a row feeding the faith
Anything can happen in this world
And when it’s time to say goodbye,
He wants her to remember this dance
So her angel in a cowboy hat gives her the guitar in his hands.

    BRIDGE:
And her mama starts to cry,
Because she knows how much I means
To her Emily, who turns his love into strength to live, and dream

    REPEAT CHORUS

    Always believe...
    Always believe...
He says, "OK Sweetheart, it's time to say goodbye now."
"Now you take this guitar home with you, so you don't forget me now, you hear?"
"And the one thing I want you to remember every time you think of me is always believe. Always, always believe."
And he gives her the sweetest hug.
"Now you take care of yourself. I love you very, very much."
    "Goodbye darling."

  5. FOR THE LONG RUN
    ©2000 Walter Crockett
  6. Mama told me not to play-o
    Every day-o, she would say-o
You can't dance the night away-o
When the rain comes pouring down

    CHORUS:
You want somebody for the long run
Big strong one, for the long run
You need somebody for the long run
Make your love come tumbling down

But I did not listen to my mama
It's a bummer, in the summer
Cause I just want to do the rhumba
When the son comes shining down

    CHORUS:
Don't want nobody for the long run
Big strong one, for the long run
Don't need nobody for the long run
Make my love come tumbling down

But who's that dancing over there now
In the red gown, with her hair down
She's the answer to my prayers now
Makes my love come tumbling down

    CHORUS:
Do you want somebody for the long run
Big strong one, for the long run
Do need somebody for the long run
Make your love come tumbling down

    Now I've given love a try-o
    Get so high-o, I could fly-o
Dance all night out on the bayou
When the rain comes pouring down

    CHORUS:
You want somebody for the long run
Big strong one, for the long run
You need somebody for the long run
Make your love come tumbling down

    LAST CHORUS:
God bless you people in the long run
With a strong one for the long run
God send somebody in the long run
Make your love come tumbling down
Cause you want somebody for the long run
Big strong one, for the long run
You're gonna need somebody for the long run
Make your love come tumbling down
Make your love come tumbling down

  7. I WANT YOU TO KNOW
    ©2000 Valerie Crockett
Dedicated to Valerie's mom, Alma Orchinik

If your goal is to live forever
    Then you just can't win
But if you cross the finish line
    With a peace from within
Then you're a lifetime winner and you take home the gold
And when I can't hold your hand it's your love that I'll hold

    CHORUS:
And I want you to know
    That it's all right
If you're tired of the struggle
If you're tired of the fight
And I want you to know
    That it's OK
If you want to close your eyes
    And slowly slip away

    It's not a weakness
    To sing your final song
    And I won't think you're a failure
When it's time to move on
And beyond my anguish and beneath my tears
There's an underlying joy that I've had you all these years

    REPEAT CHORUS

    BRIDGE:
And I'll cry and cry when you're gone
But in the love you leave behind
    You live on and on

  8. SAME TRAIN
    ©2000 Walter Crockett

    Same train, two different times
It took your life, now it's got mine
Hey conductor, somebody stop this train

Whistle blowing, just up the line
I'm on the wrong track, at just the right time
Hey conductor, somebody stop this train

    BRIDGE:
Don't need to punch my ticket
    You can keep it, bud
And I bequeath all my baggage to the lord above
If you won't stop this train and let me off behind
I'll throw myself out the window if I still got the time

I see the engine, like in a dream
It's coming our way, with a full head of steam
Hey conductor, somebody stop this train

    REPEAT BRIDGE

Red light, bells start to ring
But Casey Jr. don't hear a thing
Hey conductor, somebody stop this train

    Engineer, head on the wheel
Says, "Mr. Brakeman, shuffle and deal."
Hey conductor, somebody stop this train

    REPEAT BRIDGE

    Same train, two different times
It took your life, now it's got mine
Hey conductor, somebody stop this train
Hey conductor, somebody stop this train
Hey conductor, somebody stop this train

  9. I THOUGHT I HAD A ROCK
©2000 Walter Crockett    ... as sung by Valerie

    Finders keepers, losers weepers
She found you and I can't sleep
Your loving her is misery for me

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But missing you when I get home
Hurts worse than all the words you've thrown at me

    CHORUS:
    I thought I had rock
Till it slipped out of my hand
Thought I held a heart of gold
    I know I held a man
I thought we had a love
Until it vanished in thin air
And now the love is gone
    The rock rolls on
And the heart don't seem to care

So here I sit on the edge of the bed
Singing nursery rhymes to a sleepy-head
Wondering how to tell him that you're gone

And all the king's horses, all the king's men
Couldn't put our love together again
I built it on a rock that's rolling on

    REPEAT CHORUS

    BRIDGE:
Wish I may, wish I might
Stop this crying through the night
The one I built my whole life on
Has slipped away, now he's gone

    REPEAT CHORUS

And now the love is gone
    The rock rolls on
And the heart don't seem to care

  10. ONE SPECIAL DAY
    ©2000 Emily Crockett

I always knew he was the best, I felt connected to him.
This was long before we met, but I already knew him.
Many nights he filled my dreams,
    Sometimes I'd wake up laughing.
I knew that if I believed, anything could happen.

    CHORUS:
One special day my dreams came true.
That was when I really knew, he was better than I expected.
Now I know what the best is.
I loved him a whole lot before,
Now I love him even more.
He brought my heart up from under.
I felt the roll of thunder.
Now I don't have to wonder anymore.

The window of opportunity was sitting wide open.
He was spending time with me just as I'd been hoping.
He never seemed to be in a rush, though he had a lot to do,
And I knew by his gentle touch kindness was all he knew.

    REPEAT CHORUS

When I thought it was time to leave he invited me to stay.
My goal had already been achieved but I stayed for two more days.
Every day he spent more time with me than he had the day before.
Anyone could plainly see I couldn't ask for more.

  11. I GOT THE BLUES AGAIN
    ©2000 Walter Crockett

Don't make a smiley face to get my attention
Don't send a circus clown with colored balloons
Don't go consoling me with honorable mention
I got the blues again, I got the blues again

Ain't gonna buy ginko biloba or ginseng
Ain't got a mojo from a Cajun lagoon
You think I'm smiling but I'll only be wincing
I got the blues again, I got the blues again

    CHORUS:
I got the blues over Southern California
I got the blues over nothing at all
I got the blues over losing Louisiana
I got the blues over you
I got the blues over you

Seems like my Mercury is always in retro
Seems like my Venus sent her Cupid to Mars
Your sun is shining, but mine already set, so
I got the blues again, I got the blues again

You think I'm laughing but I've only been growling
You think I'm singing when I howl at the moon
You think I'm dancing but I'm endlessly prowling
I got the blues again, I got the blues again

  12. BUBBLEGUM
    ©2000 Valerie Crockett

Walking along on a hot summer day
With the sun pouring down in that July way
The flowers are thirsty and the birds want a bath
The dogs are laying low, asleep in the grass
       Rising ripples of the heat
From the sidewalk and the street
Make my head as hazy as the distant sky
I'm so distracted, you're the reason why
And my next step finds baking in the sun
A soft and gooey wad of gum
And as I stretch that sweetened glue
It dawns on me this is just like you, cause

    CHORUS:
You keep sticking to my mind like bubble gum to a shoe.

And it's stubborn stuff if you've ever tried
To remove hot gum from the underside
Of your boot or sneaker, not a cinch to do
And it's not so easy to not think of you
I keep scraping my soul on the ground.
I can't get free of this stuff I found, cause

    CHORUS:
You keep sticking to my mind like bubble gum to a shoe.

    BRIDGE:
Too much sugar to be Carefree
Well, it must be Bazooka cause it's aimed at me.
Somebody popped you, dropped you on the ground
And you've been doggin' my heels all over this town.

Walking along on a hot summer day
With the sun pouring down in that July way.
My head's as hazy as the distant sky
I'm so distracted, you're the reason why
I keep scraping my soul on the ground
I can't get free of this stuff I found. Oh

    CHORUS:
You keep sticking to my mind like bubble gum to a shoe.
You keep sticking, you keep sticking
You keep sticking to my mind like bubble gum to a shoe.

    JUST LET YOUR LOVE
©2000 Walter Crockett   ... as sung by Valerie

    CHORUS:
Just let your love shine down on me
It's the nearest thing to heaven that I'll ever see
Honest and free, precious and true
And I live to let my love shine down on you

Darling I'd do anything to be by your side
Should the ocean come between us
I would swim against the tide
I would walk into your finest dreams
    And make them come true
Darling I'd do anything for you

    REPEAT CHORUS

Darling through those lonely nights I've longed for this day
When the walls come down between us
And our cares will fly away
And you ask if I can give my heart
    I swear that I do
Darling I'd give anything to you

    REPEAT CHORUS

    BRIDGE:
    I can't believe it's real
    I won't believe you're mine
Until we live this heaven one day at a time

    REPEAT CHORUS
Darling I'd give anything for you

    13 LETTERS
    ©2000 Walter Crockett

The picture hurt like a thousand words
    Each one read with pain
Spilling over in black and white
Just 13 letters, and then his name

I tore it up and I pieced it back
Then I tore it up again
Still it burned like a thousand flames
Consuming me, your love for him, it's like

Some raging fire out on an island in the sea
Some dying fire here on the dark side of your dream

I used to dream that your love was gone
And wake to find you here
Now it seems there's no waking from
Your night of love, our secrets shared

And though you claim it's a fantasy
And though you call my name
13 letters were real to me
I taste the smoke, I feel the flames, it's like

Some raging fire out on an island in the sea
Some dying fire here on the dark side of your dream

The picture hurt like a thousand words
    Each one red with pain
Spilling over in black and white
    "I want to see you"
And then his name, it's like

Some raging fire out on an island in the sea
Some dying fire here on the dark side of your dream

    ICE CREAM MAN
©2000 Walter Crockett   ... as sung by Valerie

Come here baby, take me by the hand
Cause I've got this feeling I don't understand, well my
    Heart's a-flutter and my head's going South, and I'm
So distracted I could kiss your mouth, cause I'm

Hot and bothered, cool it while you can
I will make your sundae if you be my ice cream man

Rainbow sprinkles with a cherry on top
Get me started and I just can't stop
    Chocolate syrup, let it drip
'Scuse me honey while I lick my lips, cause I'm

Hot and bothered, cool it while you can
I will make your Sunday if you be my ice cream man

    Sirens wailing, all over town
Help me honey cause I'm melting down
Oh my sugar, when you're sweet on me
    Makes me holler
    Oo-oo-oo-ooh weee, and I'm

Hot and bothered, cool it while you can
I will make your sundae if you be my ice cream man

Hot and bothered, hot and bothered, hot and bothered
Cool it while you, cool it while you, cool it while you can
I will make your Sunday if you be my ice cream man
I will make your sundae if you be my ice cream man
